Suicides decreased in Croatia

In 2011 around 712 suicides occurred in Croatia, 65 less than in 2010. In Croatia, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Croatia reported 16.44 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.82 suicides per 100,000 people.

Croatia is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 712 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 528 were men suicides and 184 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 25.27 per 100,000 men and for women 8.21 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Croatia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 49 homicides in Croatia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 14.5 suicides.
