Croatia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,002 recorded suicide cases in 1996, 739 were men suicides and 263 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 33.7 per 100,000 men and for women 11.1 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Croatia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 122 homicides in Croatia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8.2 suicides.
