Croatia has a very high suicide rate

In 1994 occurred 1,088 suicides in Croatia, the same people committed suicide than in 1993. On average, there are 3 suicides per day.

Croatia had 23.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 15.83 suicides per 100,000 people.

Croatia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,088 recorded suicide cases in 1994, 801 were men suicides and 287 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 35.8 per 100,000 men and for women 11.9 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Croatia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 143 homicides in Croatia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 7.6 suicides.
