Croatia has a very high suicide rate

In 1991 around 1,105 suicides occurred in Croatia, 37 less than in 1990. In 1991, on average 3 Croatians committed suicide every day.

Croatia reported 23.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.11 suicides per 100,000 people.

Croatia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,105 recorded suicide cases in 1991, 778 were men suicides and 327 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 34.3 per 100,000 men and for women 13.5 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Croatia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 437 homicides in Croatia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.5 suicides.
