In 2011 around 2,052 suicides occurred in Colombia, 66 less than in 2010. In 2011, on average 6 Colombians committed suicide every day.

Colombia reported 4.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,052 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 1,669 were men suicides and 383 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 7.3 per 100,000 men and for women 1.6 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Colombia. However, in Colombia in 2011 there were there were 16,127 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 7.9 homicides per suicide.
