Colombia had 4.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.89 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,118 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 1,720 were men suicides and 398 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 7.7 per 100,000 men and for women 1.7 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Colombia. However, in Colombia in 2010 there were there were 15,459 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 7.3 homicides per suicide.
