Chile had 11.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.89 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 2,001 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 1,618 were men suicides and 383 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.3 per 100,000 men and for women 4.4 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Chile suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 541 homicides in Chile, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.7 suicides.
