Chile has a low suicide rate

In 1992 around 658 suicides occurred in Chile, 129 less than in 1991. In Chile, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Chile reported 4.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.38 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Chile has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 658 recorded suicide cases in 1992, 562 were men suicides and 96 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.3 per 100,000 men and for women 1.4 per 100,000 female.
