In 2012 occurred 3,924 suicides in Canada. This year, 198 more people committed suicide than in 2011. In 2012, on average 11 Canadians committed suicide every day.

Canada had 11.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.87 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 3,924 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 2,970 were men suicides and 954 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.3 per 100,000 men and for women 5.5 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Canada suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 549 homicides in Canada, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 7.1 suicides.
