In 2010 around 2,467 suicides occurred in Cameroon, 62 more than in 2009. In 2010, on average 7 Cameroonians committed suicide every day.

Cameroon reported 12.13 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.89 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 2,467 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 1,892 were men suicides and 575 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.13 per 100,000 men and for women 5.76 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cameroon suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 999 homicides in Cameroon, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.5 suicides.
