In 2012 around 1,799 suicides occurred in Cambodia, 109 more than in 2011. In 2012, on average 5 Cambodians committed suicide every day.

Cambodia reported 12.36 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.87 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 1,799 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 1,138 were men suicides and 661 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.56 per 100,000 men and for women 8.85 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cambodia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 268 homicides in Cambodia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 6.7 suicides.
