By 2012, suicides in Myanmar increased by 69 people to at 2,038 suicides In 2012, on average 6 Burmese committed suicide every day.

In Myanmar there were 4.08 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.87 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,038 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 1,219 were men suicides and 819 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.86 per 100,000 men and for women 3.26 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Myanmar suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,436 homicides in Myanmar, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.4 suicides.
