Burkina Faso had 8.67 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 1,394 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 920 were men suicides and 473 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.17 per 100,000 men and for women 5.66 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Burkina Faso suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 90 homicides in Burkina Faso, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 15.5 suicides.
