Bulgaria has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 1,470 recorded suicide cases in 1993, 1,023 were men suicides and 447 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 24.6 per 100,000 men and for women 10.4 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bulgaria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 490 homicides in Bulgaria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3 suicides.
