In 1990 occurred 1,323 suicides in Bulgaria. This year, 137 fewer people committed suicide than in 1989. In 1990, on average 4 Bulgarians committed suicide every day.

Bulgaria had 15.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 14.95 suicides per 100,000 people.

Bulgaria, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 1,323 recorded suicide cases in 1990, 920 were men suicides and 403 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 21.4 per 100,000 men and for women 9.1 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bulgaria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 227 homicides in Bulgaria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.8 suicides.
