Brazil has a low suicide rate

In 1994 around 5,931 suicides occurred in Brazil, 384 more than in 1993. In 1994, on average 16 Brazilians committed suicide every day.

Brazil reported 3.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.83 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Brazil has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 5,931 recorded suicide cases in 1994, 4,632 were men suicides and 1,299 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.8 per 100,000 men and for women 1.6 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Brazil. However, in Brazil in 1994 there were there were 29,851 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 5 homicides per suicide.
