Brazil has a low suicide rate

In 1993 occurred 5,547 suicides in Brazil. This year, 295 more people committed suicide than in 1992. In 1993, on average 15 Brazilians committed suicide every day.

Brazil had 3.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.86 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Brazil has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 5,547 recorded suicide cases in 1993, 4,354 were men suicides and 1,193 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.6 per 100,000 men and for women 1.5 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Brazil. However, in Brazil in 1993 there were there were 28,013 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 5.1 homicides per suicide.
