Suicides decreased in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In 2010 around 230 suicides occurred in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 12 less than in 2009.

Bosnia and Herzegovina reported 5.99 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.89 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 230 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 178 were men suicides and 52 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.5 per 100,000 men and for women 2.64 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bosnia and Herzegovina suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 56 homicides in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.1 suicides.
