In 2012 occurred 1,963 suicides in Bolivia. This year, 67 fewer people committed suicide than in 2011. In 2012, on average 5 Bolivians committed suicide every day.

Bolivia had 18.97 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.87 suicides per 100,000 people.

Bolivia is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 1,963 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 1,264 were men suicides and 700 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 23.74 per 100,000 men and for women 13.34 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bolivia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,221 homicides in Bolivia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.6 suicides.
