Bolivia - Intentional self-harm

In 2011 occurred 2,030 suicides in Bolivia. This year, 6 fewer people committed suicide than in 2010. In 2011, on average 6 Bolivians committed suicide every day.

Bolivia had 19.92 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.82 suicides per 100,000 people.

Bolivia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 2,030 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 1,313 were men suicides and 718 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 25.06 per 100,000 men and for women 13.91 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bolivia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,236 homicides in Bolivia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.6 suicides.
