Belize - Intentional self-harm

In 2012 occurred 24 suicides in Belize. This year, 2 fewer people committed suicide than in 2011.

Belize had 6.99 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.87 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 24 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 20 were men suicides and 4 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.93 per 100,000 men and for women 2.17 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Belize. However, in Belize in 2012 there were there were 145 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 6 homicides per suicide.
