Belgium has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 1,878 recorded suicide cases in 1992, 1,313 were men suicides and 565 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 26.7 per 100,000 men and for women 11 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Belgium suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 121 homicides in Belgium, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 15.5 suicides.
