Belgium has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 1,895 recorded suicide cases in 1990, 1,303 were men suicides and 592 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 26.8 per 100,000 men and for women 11.6 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Belgium suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 104 homicides in Belgium, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 18.2 suicides.
