Austria has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 1,788 recorded suicide cases in 1995, 1,333 were men suicides and 455 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 34.8 per 100,000 men and for women 11.1 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Austria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 78 homicides in Austria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 22.9 suicides.
