By 2011, suicides in Algeria increased by 23 people to at 1,200 suicides In 2011, on average 3 Algerians committed suicide every day.

In Algeria there were 3.27 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Algeria, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 1,200 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 966 were men suicides and 234 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.18 per 100,000 men and for women 1.31 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Algeria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 280 homicides in Algeria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.3 suicides.
