There are 4 suicides per day in Afghanistan

In 2010 around 1,440 suicides occurred in Afghanistan, 30 more than in 2009. In 2010, on average 4 Afghans committed suicide every day.

Afghanistan reported 5.93 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.89 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,440 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 1,147 were men suicides and 293 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.05 per 100,000 men and for women 2.1 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Afghanistan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 983 homicides in Afghanistan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.5 suicides.
