In November, vehicle registrations in Norway grew by 11.91% with respect to November of 2006. In total, 15,216 cars were registered and 184,544 new cars were sold in the last twelve months, 19.08% more than the year before.
The breakdown of car sales figures for the month of November is:
- Commercial vehicles sold: 4,763, 1.85% less than in November of 2006.
- Passenger cars regitrations: 10,453, which represents a figure of 19.54% more than in November of 2006.
Norway is the 44th-placed country in ranking of 135 countries based on number of vehicle registrations.
A very useful variable for estimating the level of economic wealth enjoyed by Norwegians residents, when compared to the other countries in the ranking, is the number of vehicles sold or registered per thousand residents in the last year. With annual sales of 39.42 cars per 1,000 residents, 3.25 of them in the last month, Norway, occupies 20th place in the ranking.
As can be seen, the number of registrations per thousand residents has grown in the last year. The increase in this figure is positive, as it generally indicates improved public confidence in the country's economy.
