Irish passenger car registrations rise

In December, private car in Ireland grew by 31.5% with respect to December of 2021. In total, 622 cars were registered in December and 131,496 new cars were sold in the last twelve months, 3.58% less than the year before.

Ireland is the 49 th-placed country in ranking of 137 countries based on number of vehicle registrations.

Changes in Irish vehicle registration numbers are shown in the tables below. As several studies indicate, these changes are very much related to changes in GDP and, hence, to a country's economic situation. Sales have grown since 2013, as 74,590 were registered that year
