Icelanders sales of passenger car improve

In December, private car in Iceland grew by 23.47% with respect to December of 2021. In total, 1,652 cars were registered in December and 18,516 new cars were sold in the last twelve months, 29.51% more than the year before.

Iceland is the 86 th-placed country in ranking of 137 countries based on number of vehicle registrations.

Changes in Icelandic vehicle registration numbers are shown in the tables below. As several studies indicate, these changes are very much related to changes in GDP and, hence, to a country's economic situation. Sales have grown since 2013, as 8,127 were registered that year
